Our Church Building

The Steeple Church is located at the heart of Dundee’s city centre. It comprises two thirds of the fine City Churches building, its history dating back over 800 years.

Following a major £1.1 m development, completed in 2012, we now have a modern, flexible and fully accessible complex including five meeting spaces, a catering kitchen and office accommodation. We are finding this a great blessing for the worship, mission and community life of the congregation. We also actively market the space as a venue for conferences, concerts, meetings and events. This brings in valuable additional income to facilitate the upkeep and running costs of the complex and to support the wider work of the congregation. The Presbytery of Dundee uses our building for its meetings, as do NHS, Council and third sector organisations on a regular basis.

Our main Sanctuary space is particularly adaptable with movable seating that allows variable layouts for different styles of worship or events. In recent years we have hosted a variety of music concerts and interesting art exhibitions. Our modern PA and lighting technology support such events. Our Parish Nursing project is based in the building.

The ‘Mary Slessor Centre’ makes up the second half of our church building and is the home of Hot Chocolate Trust which started as the church’s Youth Work project and is now an independent Trust, working full-time with teenagers who congregate in the environs of the church, many of them marginalised and coping with difficult life circumstances.

Sunday Services

Everyone is most welcome to join us as we meet together each Sunday at 10.30am for worship.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a worshiping Christian Community at the heart of Dundee that is bible-based, prayerful and alive in Christ, that attracts others to follow Jesus through our caring approach to others around us.

Welcome to The Steeple Church

The Steeple Church is located at the heart of Dundee’s city centre. We are only a few minutes away from shopping centres, varied cultural attractions, leisure facilities, hotels, and the City Square.

Dundee is rightly known as ‘the city of discovery’. As a church we also embrace this vision as we seek to discover God’s love and truth for us. We want to discover God’s purpose for us in a city community as well as discovering God’s leading in our personal lives. We are learning what it means to follow Jesus and we are doing so thoughtfully, prayerfully, and joyfully.

Services

Sunday morning services are at 10.30am. For further details visit the Sunday page.

The Steeple Church is a congregation of The Church of Scotland.
